2024 Tri County Fair

Although a Parke did not compete in this years Tri County Fair, Parke Ranch Genetics still made an appearance. Lexi Nelson, a senior from Drummond High School, bought one of our Elite Heifer calves from our 2023 Production Sale, PRK Montana 3184L. Lexi and Montana cleaned house in the Replacement Heifer devision. They took home Grand Champion Replacement Heifer, Champion Ranch Raised Replacement Heifer (a devision specifically for animals without club influence), and Champion Locally Grown Replacement Heifer. Thanks to Lexi’s success in the show ring, the Parke Ranch was also rewarded the Grand Champion Locally Grown Producer. We are excited to see how Montana can help Lexi grow her own herd of cattle, because we believe that our genetics can thrive both in the show ring as well as in the field.

2023 Tri County Fair

August 2023 marked the 19th consecutive year that at least one of the Parke children exhibited cattle at the Tri-County Fair in Deer Lodge, MT. This is most likely a streak that is over for a few years as it was probably Scott’s last and it will be a few before the next generation gets started. The next generation will be the 4th of the Parke Family to exhibit cattle at the Tri-County Fair.  It has truly been a great experience and opportunity and a wonderful learning environment! We greatly appreciate the many who have made this all possible! The 4-H program and experience teaches so many worthwhile lessons for life.

Scott had a successful year with the 5 head he exhibited this year. His Optimizer yearling heifer, PRK Lass 297L, was a purple ribbon winner and stood 2nd in the yearling heifer class of more than 15 head. She was also named Champion Crossbred Heifer. His market steer, PRK Alvin 971K, an Optimizer sired by SRS Guideline also received a purple ribbon. He ended up placing 3rd for the market steer show and was awarded the Champion Locally Grown and Ranch Raised (top non club bred steer) Awards. He also showed a 2-year-old Optimizer female and bull calf. They were awarded Reserve Champion Female Beef as well as Reserve Champion Male Beef over all breeds. We are proud of the fact that we have been competitive in the steer show over the years while exhibiting our own cattle that are from our breeding program. Most of all we are excited that our breeding cattle have excelled in the show ring and even more importantly they have all been bred and gone on to make productive cows in the real world! 11 times over the last 15 years a Parke bred female has won either Grand or Reserve Champion Female Beef at the Tri-County Fair. We definitely believe the heifer calves we are offering in the sale have that potential as well.
